Baby at 29 weeks, 5 days.......

Just chewing that hand.... one of my favorites :)

Not looking happy

Also a favorite - I think Baby may have the cleft chin that Chris and I both have, and I still see Chris's nose and upper lip in this profile

30 Weeks!

Here's the highlights:

Size of baby: around 15 inches long and weighs between 2.5 to 3.5 pounds.  No wonder my belly is really starting to feel heavy!
Movement: fewer kicks/punches, but so much rolling and pushing... though this all changes on a daily basis!
Food cravings: eh..... my appetite has been really down.  I guess with my stomach being squished way up in my chest, I get full much more quickly.  I have been slightly more into sweets lately, but I try not to indulge too often.
What I miss: still just feeling fit.  I know I'm 7 months pregnant, but I will look forward to that first nice hard workout I get to do.
Sleep: not super lately, probably because it is starting to get harder to get comfortable.
Symptoms: belly stretching, reflux, rib pain.  Friday evening was the first time that the right side of my ribs actually hurt every time I took a deep breath.  But, compared to other pregnancies, I have nothing to complain about, so I count my blessings of an overall easy pregnancy every day!
Best moment this week: seeing our baby again on Friday!
What I am looking forward to: everything.  Getting our baby here and being a family.

Another good week here.  I can't believe I'm 30 weeks.  It seems like we should still be at 9 weeks, still in secret, and still talking about our super tiny little baby that didn't even look like a baby then.  This week our bouncer seat and pack-and-play came in, and I also put the crib bedding on.  Our nursery is really starting to look like a cute little baby room, and when I pass by that room during the day, I am still amazed that a little baby is really going to be in there soon!  Our house is also starting to look more "home-y" as a whole, as we finally got around to putting up different wall hangings and frames that we've been accumulating for..... a while.

I guess our only big event this week was Friday.  My doctor's appointment had to be rescheduled because my OB had to be gone (probably doing a scheduled delivery is my guess), but we still went in for bloodwork (which I despise of course), and the follow-up ultrasound for placenta location.  I got extra scared when I went into the room for bloodwork.  The lady in there for that afternoon was dropping EVERYthing, and I was terrified that this draw might be extra painful.  Thankfully it wasn't.  Its not even that I'm afraid of needles.  I have this completely irrational fear that I'm going to get the needle in my arm, and then its going to get jiggled around, or worse, ripped out.  I know its crazy, but that's my fear!  So that's why I hate bloodwork.

After my scheduled 60 seconds of stress, we got to our more "fun" part, and we had the nicest ultrasound tech!  The others we have had are nice too, but they are never as friendly and excited to see the baby as we are.  I know its their job to be this way, but no matter who you're interacting with, nothing is as much fun as when someone shares your excitement.  The tech took all the pictures of the placenta that she thought she needed, and then she indulged our request to try and get some 3D pictures of Baby's face.  For the FOURTH time now, Baby did NOT want to have any of this!  That arm was in front of the face almost the entire time!  I guess the baby just wants us to be completely surprised on D-Day.  However, we did get a few cute pictures, which I will post later today after we scan them in.

Our tech did tell us that we will probably be having yet another ultrasound later on because Baby was breech on Friday.  Nothing we're worried about because 1) babies can turn up until the moment before delivery and 2) I know its really a big deal to a lot of women, but I truly do not care how this kid gets out, so long as s/he arrives safely and healthy.  The tech also told us that it looked to her like my placenta was completely in the "right" place, so that was nice to hear (though there's always the chance she could be wrong, she is after all not a doctor).  Hearing that our baby is (or at least was, then) breech clarified that I have in fact been feeling a head in my ribs!  I thought that maybe I had been feeling a baby butt lately, but no, its been a head, haha!  At any rate, the kid's got 10 more weeks (ish) to get into the right position, so we'll see.  10 WEEKS!  We can hardly believe it!

I will post a bump picture later in the week, and I will post new ultrasound pictures later when we get them scanned in.  We were going to do that yesterday, but we had a busy day of sitting on the couch and later picking out a few clearance items at Old Navy for the baby (total score - we got 2 onesies, a pajama outfit, and some fleece pants for under $9)..... so, needless to say, we had to save that for today, haha.

29 Week Bump!

Not sure if the baby's home looks any bigger than last week's picture, but it sure feels bigger!

29 Weeks!

Here's the highlights:

Size of baby: according to the The Bump, we have graduated to squash, though it shows a picture of a pumpkin (which I realize is a squash, but who thinks of a pumpkin when you  hear squash?) .... very weird to us, but in terms of measurements, it says that baby is around 15 inches long and weighs between 2.5 to 3.5 pounds.  No wonder my belly is really starting to feel heavy!
Movement: pretty active lately, and Baby discovered its own personal jungle gym this week - aka my rib cage.  S/He really likes the right side of my ribs.  I wouldn't call it painful (for now), but it can get pretty uncomfortable.
Food cravings: nothing really, though last night all of a sudden I really wanted some ice cream with peanut butter topping.  Don't know if that really counts though.  I've mostly just been hungry - the norm..... though I just realized I've been extra into tangerines lately.
What I miss: nothing much this week, just feeling fit maybe?  I'm feeling the heaviness of this extra weight, especially when walking up 10 stairs leaves me a bit breathless.
Sleep: on and off.... I'm starting to wake up in the early morning hours and I spend a while tossing and turning.
Symptoms: still the belly stretching, and also heartburn/reflux has come back a bit.  Probably because most of my guts are squished up in my chest right now.
Best moment this week: NOT completely wiping out on Friday on our attempted drive to Syracuse.  I say "attempted" because that's all it was - the roads were so bad we decided just to turn around and forget the trip.
What I am looking forward to: making progress on the nursery

Nothing really exciting to report this week, though its been VERY cold here!  Right now, the wind chill is MINUS 36.  Yikes!  Needless to say, we aren't going out today.  Monday through Thursday were pretty typical days here.  On Friday, Chris had a check-up with the allergist, so we went to that appointment in Watertown, took care of a few errands there, and had intended to drive down to Syracuse to pick up the stroller/car seat system we bought a little while ago.  We thought we were going to get lucky and escape the bad weather that was forecast to arrive.  The weather itself didn't even seem so bad, but we had gotten just a about 10-20 minutes outside of Watertown and we started seeing cars that had gone off the road.  I realized that we were near the area that we had gone off the road back in December.  We started slipping and sliding, and I thought for sure we were going into the guardrail.  THANK GOD all we did was spin almost full-circle and that the cars behind us were being proactive.  We were really shaken up and decided that we were not taking any chances, and we got off at the next exit to turn around.  All week I had been praying for safety for the day, and we were given that.  We just weren't meant to go to Syracuse that day.  Oh well.  We did at least get to pick up our crib mattress in Ogdensburg that evening, and our bedding should be in this week.

Yesterday we really didn't do anything except run a few errands here.  Its been so super cold here that the thought of being outside is just horrendous.  I've still been feeling pretty good, though the heartburn is a bit uncomfortable at times, as are the times that the baby starts jabbing my ribs.  All in all, I don't really have anything to complain about.  I also feel like I have that first-trimester exhaustion again.  Yesterday we barely did anything and I could not stay away on the couch in the early evening.  I've still been making it to the gym, but "good" workouts are hit or miss these days.  For example, on Monday, I had a such a great workout - I made it through my 40 minutes on the elliptical feeling like I could keep going.  These days, that's a great workout.  The other couple of days this week were very slow-going in the gym and left me super exhausted, but I guess that's probably normal given I'm almost 7 months now.  I'm grateful for any exercise I'm still able to get though.

Not much going on this week, except Friday I have my 30-week appointment (well, I'll be just shy of 30 weeks anyway).  I also have blood work and the follow-up ultrasound that day, so it will be fun to get another peek at our baby, probably the last time we will see him/her until D-Day.  I can't believe we are down to about 11 weeks to go, maybe even less!  With it being our first, I'd more expect the baby to be late than early, but early could happen.  Pretty soon we will have our hospital bag packed for just in case.... crazy.

28 Week Bump

So technically this is at 28 weeks, and 5 days, but I'm still calling this the 28 week picture.

28 Weeks!

Here are the highlights:

Size of baby: according to the The Bump, still eggplant (but that's crown-to-rump length, or CRL) ..... but with legs extended, baby is about 14.5 inches long, weighs around 2 pounds
Maternity clothes: I'll put this category back on the highlights list if anything changes, but I'm pretty sure that I won't be wearing any regular clothes until after baby from here on out
Movement: baby has on/off days... the off days are like little radar blips, and when I have one of those, its followed by a couple of VERY active days, like the last 2 days.  Also, baby kicked the remote control off my belly yesterday, that was pretty funny.
Food cravings: this week I discovered that blueberries + nutella + whole wheat waffles = YUM
What I miss: being able to walk up our entire number of stairs without the heaviness in my legs as if I had just gone for a long run
Sleep: mostly pretty good
Symptoms: belly stretching.... no, not as in stretch marks (still none of those!), but as in muscles.  At first I thought I was having a BH contraction, but no, it was just some muscle stretching/aching low on my right side... which spread to the middle and left side the next day, and then completely went away.  I wouldn't call it painful, just a bit uncomfortable... enough that I couldn't finish working out on Tuesday.  I spent the next day just resting, and then I was back to normal.
Best moment this week: the joint shower that was Friday, and getting 2 pieces of the nursery put together yesterday
What I am looking forward to: having all of the nursery furniture done, and picking up some items at Babies-r-Us this Friday

This was a pretty good week, though it really seemed to drag by.  The weather was not bad at all until yesterday when the snow came..... and came..... and came.  We had scheduled Bailie for a grooming appointment for yesterday afternoon, and were quickly wishing we would have just rescheduled it.  The roads were terrible and the lovely 360 spin we did when attempting to turn onto our street was just lovely.  The plows didn't come out until late last night.  At least we don't have to get out today at all, and tomorrow is a holiday, so we will probably be in most of the day then too.  But, we took advantage of some of yesterday and we (mostly Chris) got our crib and changing table put together.  Its pretty crazy to see a portion of the nursery complete!

The baby shower on Friday was really fun, and it was really nice to meet the 3 other pregnant ladies, 2 of whom are also first-timers.  One is due next week, then one in February, then me, then one in May.  We played shower games (I won one of them), ate yummy food, and were each given some very generous gifts.  We each received a very generous gift card to Babies-r-Us, a gift certificate from one of the ladies here who does photography for a free newborn session, a Mother Goose book, a US Embassy baby blanket (super cute and soft), and some baby clothes, specific to each of us according to what we're having.  My favorite of the clothing items were these adorable little onesies with monkeys on them, and they were the cute pale yellow, not gross canary yellow.  Chris loved them too.

One of the ladies at the shower is having a boy, and the other two are having girls.  I was the only one who chose not to find out.  I really enjoyed being "that" person.  I've definitely had days where I think that it would be nice to know, but especially now, I'm enjoying not knowing.  It makes me think that maybe we'll never find out.  I keep thinking about the moment when the doctor will tell us what we have, and that makes me too excited to want to have that surprise ruined any earlier than D-Day.  Even if on subsequent babies we choose to find out what we are having, we will never reveal name choices, just fyi.  Never.  Not budging on that one.  Everyone tells me that privacy goes out the window when you have a baby, so why not preserve any secrets/surprises that you can, so that you can enjoy them just for yourself for a time?  That's important to us.

There's really not much else to report for the week.  It was really just a time to adjust to home life routine again.  This Friday will be a long day - doctor's appointment for Chris, then a quick trip down to Syracuse for our Babies-r-Us run, then home.  Then the next Friday we will begin our every-two-week appointments at my OB's office.

For now, the baby is moving, the belly is growing, and Bailie seems to be increasingly suspicious that something is going on here.

27 Week Bump.....

Wow!  Look at how round I'm getting!

Yesterday's appointment was pretty routine as usual.  Doing the glucose test was no big deal.  I guess they'll call me if I have to take the 3-hour test.  The drink didn't taste that bad, just like super sweet orange soda.  The worst part was the blood draw, only because I REALLY hate needles in my arm.  Shots are fine.  But anything else.... yuck.  I was not happy with my weight, but my doctor keeps assuring me that its fine and that I'm right on track.  I asked her how much more I should expect to gain, and she wouldn't tell me a number, just that I should not be worried.  On the brightside and most important note, Baby's heartbeat was great.  We go back on January 24 for some bloodwork (routinely scheduled at this time period to check for anemia), an ultrasound to check the position of the placenta (hopefully has moved, though I have no problem with this baby being cut out rather than pushed out), and then another checkup.  I'll be 29 weeks.  Holy yikes.
